Carts with bar codes Waste Management 1-23-09
Just wanted to see if anyone else has seen these anywhere? If you look close, sorry it’s a little out of focus, but that black block looking thing inside the white box is a bar code. The other dark areas are the Cascade logo and other lettering. Supposedly they use these for billing. Most carts in the Brevard County, Florida area have these.

Hello I do not live in California but I do have a suggestion for you that you can try.
Go to you local city hall and ask them what are the cities regulations on recycling and what are the codes for each recyclable item. Also ask them if they can give you the names of local recycling facilities as well as the contact information for your local sanitation department. Hopefully this will help you and good luck…..also if it is an item you are looking to get rid off you can try www.craigslist.org as a place to list free un wanted items such as beds, couches etc.
you can also try searching at www.askjeeves.com

I’ll try to help the best I can…
Here are some web sites for the codes and what you can find each number on:
http://www.ides.com/resources/plastic-recycling-codes.asp
http://order.tupperware.com/pls/htprod_www/tup_widget.show_page?fv_page_code=prodcodes&fv_section_name=help&fv_category_code=search&fv_item_category_code=200530
Here is a link with the molecular structure pics to make your presentation look more scientific ;~)
http://www.chemheritage.org/EducationalServices/faces/poly/readings/rec.htm
This one gives you pictures and examples (but does not show the code on the actual product itself)http://www.thedailygreen.com/green-homes/latest/recycling-symbols-plastics-460321
Hon the only thing I found with pictures is the link above… (nothing in google images or from my search on the net) Recycle codes are usually found underneath items such as cd boxes, peanut butter jars etc…
Look around your home and I’m sure you’ll find most if not all of these items… If not, then go to your local Walmart and Grocery store and snap some photos… (You can use the last link as a guide to let you know what items have these codes)
Plastics are brutal not only for the environment but for people too… I use only glass and stainless steel containers :~) Yup, not even plastic wrap… (let’s not get me started on plastic wrap LOL)
GOOD LUCK on your Science Project! ;~)
